  • Uphold AREAA’s Mission Statement and Bylaws (available upon request)
  • Be a current member in good standing with AREAA for a minimum of 1 year prior to election, and must have previously served as Director for 1 year
  • Memorize constantly used procedures
  • Be able to conduct meetings, voting, points of order, appeals, and parliamentary procedures
  • Be actively involved in the affairs of AREAA by attending Board Meetings, General Monthly Meetings, Annual Installation Banquet, Christmas Party, Event Planning meetings, National Convention, and any other meetings that require attendance
  • Take an active role in any Chapter project(s)
  • Provide leadership to the Association and serve as a role model to other members, as well as to the real estate industry and community at large
  • Cooperate with other members of the Board and share any knowledge that will be of benefit to the Association
  • Disclose any present and/or potential conflict of interest to the Board of Directors, and withdraw from participation in any association activity or decision in which a conflict of interest exists
  • In the event a Director is unable to perform to the best of his/her ability to the Association, he/she must resign from the Board (written resignation notice must be submitted to the Board of Directors)
  • Agree to abide by the Association Ethics and Guidelines and those the Association may adopt
  • Attend all meetings on time (if you are unable to attend, you must notify the Chapter Secretary immediately)
  • President shall attend two National board meetings
  • Travel is required

The Role of Vice President/President-Elect

  • The role of the Vice President is similar to that of the President. If for any reason, the President is unable to perform his/her duty, the Vice President must step in to take over the position of the President for the remaining of the term
  • The Vice President is to work alongside the President and remind the President of all upcoming events, topics to be discusses, appointments that must be kept, etc.
  • If the President is unable to attend any of the four events that are sponsored by the Chapter, the Vice President is encouraged to step in and attend these events on behalf of the President with the same approved expenses
  • The Vice President is to be active in attending local events to promote and represent AREAA Greater East Bay Chapter whenever the President is unable
  • Must be an active member
  • Send out the “CALL” or notice of Meetings (time, date, and location)
  • Prepare memorandum order of business that lists each item that is scheduled to be discussed, in proper order for the Presiding Officer(s)
  • At meetings, prepare the official membership roll, a list of existing committees and their members, bylaws, special rules of order, standing rules, and recent minutes
  • If both the president and vice-president are absent, Secretary is to call the meeting to order and conduct the meeting as temporary officer
  • Read minutes, correspondence, and resolutions to meetings
  • Record wording of motions verbatim
  • Assist with voting
  • Prepare draft of minutes.
  • Send out correction and approval of minutes
  • Responsibility to conduct the group official correspondence, including officially notifying officers and committee members
  • Participate in executive meeting called by the President or Vice President

  • Must be an active member.
  • As Treasurer, you will be entrusted with the custody of the organization’s funds, which is spent only on authority of the Executive members (President and Vice President)
  • Responsibility to bill and collect dues from members
  • Responsibility to invoice and collect funds from sponsors and/or vendors
  • Provide “Treasurer’s Report,” of the cash balance on hand
  • Annually submit a full financial report, dated as of December 31 or Chapters fiscal year
  • CPA (Chapter member or outside) to provide audit, examination and verification of the Treasurer’s accounts and financial statements
  • CPA (Chapter member or outside) to examine the financial accounts and certify whether the treasurer’s report is correct

  • Submit tax filing to AREAA National
  • Participate in executive meeting called by President or Vice President
  • Must be an active member
  • Compose and schedule an annual list of event that reflects the goals and mission of the Chapter and meets the needs of its members
  • Identify 5-6 (or however many that are needed) committee members to lead and/or assist in event preparation
  • Coordinate with Event co-chair/committee on a budget
    • Collect budget from co-chair/committee and submit a budget to Treasurer for all events by the beginning of the year
  • Identify event leads for each event (event leads take the lead on coordinating his/her assigned event and communicate with Event Chair)
  • Event Chair is the person who reports and communicates with the Board of Directors regarding the progress of upcoming event
  • Meet and/or communicating with event leads and/or his/her community (outside of the BOD) to get updates on the upcoming events
  • Must be an active member
  • Be in the know of local district issues/events (report this in BOD meetings)
  • Provide insight to the following chairs with their respective events:
    • Events Chair on local regional planning
    • Policy Chair on local issues, bring awareness
    • Community Outreach chair on local community outreach events
  • Recruit new members
  • Retain existing members
  • Promote and achieve awareness of membership benefits
  • Onsite check-in and registration at each event
  • Support networking of AREAA members with similar talents and interests
  • Establish membership committee to assist with duties
  • Be familiar with the National membership policies, procedures, and resources of AREAA
  • Create and maintain membership database
  • Communicate with Greater East Bay members using newsletters, website, e-mail, or other resources to highlight membership benefits
  • Develop membership relations to support recruitment and retention of members
  • Disseminate information (i.e. event flyers, membership expiration) to membership
  • Inform President of new members and recognize new members at meetings
  • Must be an active member
  • Promote events at local marketing meetings
  • Promote the vision, mission and goals of the Chapter
  • Oversee Marketing committee
  • Create event flyers using flyer template for disbursement
  • Delegate the following mediums for marketing outreach to Marketing Committee: MailChimp, Facebook, Facebook Event Page, National Website, Video, Instagram
  • Oversee all marketing platforms
  • Update events and/or news on Local Chapter page of National Website
  • Works with Membership Chair to email information and updates to members
  • Coordinate with Event Chair/Lead on developing flyers for each event
  • Marketing may include but is not limited to Facebook ads, Mailchimp, Direct Mail, Print, Instagram, etc.
  • Maintains responsibility for Chapter assets including projector and amplified sound system
  • Must be an active member
  • Create the following for each event: Flyer, Facebook Event, Facebook Ad, AREAA Registation page (inform AREAA National of event)
  • Work with President/Vice President to prepare annual sponsorship package to present to annual sponsors
  • Advise Treasurer to invoice and collect sponsorship funds
  • Advise Membership Chair to collect names for sponsored members
  • Seek event sponsorship from affiliates
  • Must be an active member
  • Maintain communication with local association of Realtors Government Affairs Directors
  • Coordinate CAR Legislative Day for Chapter
  • Coordinate AREAA National Policy Day for Chapter
  • Maintain communication with local elected officials within applicable counties
  • Educate our membership of pros/cons of current local policies that may affect home ownership opportunities and property rights
  • Must be an active member
  • Provide leadership to the Chapter and serve as a role model to other members
  • Cooperate with other members of the Board and share any knowledge that will be of benefit to the Chapter
  • Participate with all National AREAA Commercial meetings/calls
  • Work with Events Chair on planning at least two commercial events
  • Participate with National AREAA Mortgage Council
  • Provide industry updates to Board of Directors
  • Participate with National AREAA Mortgage Council meetings/calls
  • Provide updates to Board of Directors
  • Plan one theEdge event
  • Participate in all National AREAA Community Outreach calls/meetings
  • Work with Events Chair on planning on ABC Day and two other Community Outreach events
  • Outreach to an AAPI real estate professional we currently do not serve
  • Outreach to other AAPI organizations
  • Provide awareness on other AAPI organization events to Board of Directors
