Philip Guarnieri brings over 40 years of banking expertise and a deep commitment to community development to his role as Treasurer of the AREAA Brooklyn Chapter. As the Chief Executive Officer of ES Bancshares, Inc., and Empire State Bank, Phil has been instrumental in the bank’s expansion, growing its assets beyond $639 million and positioning it as a trusted financial institution serving small businesses across the Tri-State area.
A seasoned leader in the financial sector, Phil played a pivotal role in the founding and chartering of Empire State Bank in 2004, focusing on delivering exceptional commercial banking services. His career began at Hamilton Federal Savings FA, where he advanced through multiple leadership roles, including Vice President/Loan Origination at Home Federal Savings Bank and Senior Vice President/Chief Lending Officer at The Yonkers SLA, FA. Before joining Empire State Bank, he served as President and COO of Atlantic States Mortgage Corp., overseeing all aspects of mortgage banking operations.
Beyond his professional achievements, Phil is a dedicated advocate for economic empowerment and small business growth. He serves on numerous boards, including as a Director of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Director and Treasurer of the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation, and Vice Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee of Patterns for Progress. His involvement extends to organizations such as the Empire State Bank Foundation, Staten Island Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Chance of Life, and the New Dorp BID, among others.
Phil holds a B.A. in Banking and Finance from Hunter College and pursued continuing education in Real Estate and Commercial Bank Lending at New York University. His strategic vision, financial expertise, and dedication to the AAPI and broader real estate communities make him a valuable leader in AREAA Brooklyn as we strive to advance sustainable homeownership and economic equity.
