I joined AREAA in 2006 out in the Boston Chapter. In 2010, my family relocated back to Chicago where my wife and I had attended college. I shortly thereafter was introduced to Vicky Silvano - the rest is history - I was destined to be a part of AREAA Chicago. For the first 7 years, I was an active member. I was then asked to be considered for board membership where I became events chair. In 2020, I served as Vice President. In 2021, I will be the Chicago Chapter President. I grew up in Minnesota, attended the University of Chicago in the late 80's where I graduated in 1990. Since then, I have been part of the mortgage lending landscape working for Household International, Green Tree, Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank and Guaranteed Rate for 30 plus years. My work role aligns well with AREAA's mission to promote sustainable homeownership within the AAPI community. Why did I join AREAA as a non-AAPI person? My father taught 5 languages and loved to celebrate the world's people and culture. My mother was also an educator. With education being a central pillar of AREAA and its global reach, I thought joining AREAA would be a great way to honor my father and connect with some business relationships. What ended up happening is that AREAA became a family of friends and I now enjoy giving back to my AREAA friends and greater community. Thank you AREAA for supporting our members and communities!
